Twin Peaks episode six

Post your responses to episode six of Twin Peaks here.
Look for the minutia of a sequence and see if there is a
way to dissect it and find a meaning from the clues.

  1. Well it wouldn't let me comment on the face book photo.

I feel like the very last scene has a lot of clues that I am just not realizing and this point in time.

The very last scene where the three of them call the Doctor starts out with him watching the soap opera on the television. I think that the soap opera has clues either in it or he fact that certain characters are watching it and not others may be a clue to something. They always seem to be watching it right before something sneaky happens.

His fruity beverage is pretty ridiculous with that huge chunk of pineapple.

Was he supposed to find Madeline dressed up as Laura? Or was he supposed to go to some other location. Because in the phone call they told her to go to a certain location but then he zoomed in on the video and figured out that she was by a gazebo. Also I'm not convinced that he is the one that is creeping in the woods because he seemed to have gotten there really quickly.

How did Bobby know that the three of them were going to be at that location calling the Doctor? And why would he put sand in the gas tank. Why would he want them to be stuck there? So that they would get caught by the doctor?

What is up with Laura's dad sitting in the living room and seeing Madeline leaving but just letting her go? I think he knows a lot more than we think that he does. Like he has the phone line tapped or something, why else would he randomly be sitting in the living room in the middle of the night like that?

And I think they will find the tape but I think they will also miss some key piece of evidence that turns up later.

Or I just think that everyone is in on it in some way.

  2. The lawyer showing up in the middle of the night to speak to Mrs. Martell about life insurance and seeing Josie's name above the 7 figures obviously shows that she was being played all along. Especially when she discovered that the book is gone. Then Mr. Horn calling Josie and then she is with domino man. I am wondering what his relationship is with her and what is really going on. And there really isn't more information about him driving and hitting someone. I am wondering what this has to do with Laura Palmer or One Eyed Jacks.

I am waiting for Agent Cooper to pounce on Jacques. I wonder how it's going to go down and if Audrey is going to cross paths with Agent Cooper since she is now working there. It's interesting that all the people that is working for Aubrey's dad is involved in One Eye Jack's somehow.

Then I am wondering what is going on with Josie, the domino guy, Aubrey's dad and the old lady. I guess Josie and Mr. Horn was playing the old lady after all.

Lastly, Laura's bestfriend, James and cousin Maddy is trying to find out more especially about the doctor and Laura. Her tape recordings are really creeping me out.

  3. At the beginning of this episode I thought Audrey shows for the first time her feelings and is honestly to the police officer. But during the Episode she is getting wired again and I never know what she wants to do. Does she really wanna help to find the murder or does she have other intentions in it. Maybe she just wanna play a huge role in the process and like to have the attention from everybody.

I'm wondering if the two really find evidences at the doctors house and what is happening to Madeline. Does the doctor go to her?

  4. It's really hard to post an analysis when you've only viewed the film/scene once. Out of what I saw there were two scenes that really stuck out to me.

The first one was the scene when James, Donna, and Laura's cousin were sitting listening to Laura's tape to the doctor. It starts out a still shot on the piano, then slowly zooms in and pans to the left. While this is happening you can hear some background noise, which is someone hitting play on the tape player. I'm not quite sure if this scene is foreshadowing anything important that is to happen, but I did think the camera work was swift.

The second scene I want to mention I just thought was clever. Once again, I don't think it is an important aspect to all the information we are obtaining, but it is smart filmmaking. The scene is of Nadine watching her soap opera. At first all you see is the television, then it shows her sitting on the couch talking to the characters and giving them encouragement (maybe she wishes she had a little encouragement from the people in her life- she seems to be a social outcast). And the camera cuts from her to the door right as Ed is coming in, and the soap opera ends and cuts to an announcer saying what's showing next week. The exact quote being verbalized while Ed passes through the door and into the house is "Tune in tomorrow for invitation for love" as his wife is sitting on a sofa with a box of truffles. I thought it was pretty humorous.

    End rant.

  5. Audrey put your clothes back on.

This girl has no friends and I think we all know why. She is spending every second of her life getting involved with the mystery of Laura's death and the audience still has no idea why. I really want to know what her motives are and if they are good ones of bad ones. This show is always switching around so I can't trust anything!

And Dr. Jacobi, stop scaring me with your multi-colored glasses. WHY?
Does he actually believe Laura is dead? I am anxiously await that meeting!

I wrote out a sequence analysis for a scene, but I am not sure that there are any clues that come up. Here it is anyway:

-Camera slowly moves in from a wide shot into a medium shot of the perfume counter where Audrey is "helping" a customer. Audrey is rude and rolls her eyes. The customer leaves.
-Cuts to Audrey walking in the backroom. The camera follows her through blinds.
-Audrey walks in the office, lights a cigarette, and goes through her boss' things. She hears something and goes into the closet.
-Medium-close up of Audrey in closet. Light comes to blinds and illuminates her face.
-Medium shot of two people through the blinds. The boss purposes a female employee to become an escort.
-The camera follows his arm as he reaches across the table to hand her a card. They leave.
-Audrey walks out and looks into a black notebook. The music intensifies.

  6. It seems like there are new characters introduced every episode, which adds to the clues. I think the weirdest parts are what makes it feel more confusing because you try to connect those clips with the story but they really have nothing to do with it, or so it seems. Im still not sure if Audrey really knows something or is just trying to get attention, in some parts she seems to want to help but in others it feels like she is going behind all of the other characters backs.

The asain lady still seems suspicious to me, i feel like she knows something that no one else knows.

  7. Sequence Analysis-

    -Bobby Walks up to house

    -Shot following bobby through binoculars

-Inside shot of shelbys house, she cries as camera moves with characters, following closely the shots become very close and intimate. All awhile haunting music lurks in the background and emotions begin to intensify.

-Next scene begins. Camera pans through house, beginning with an out of focus shot of Donna slowly zooming and panning from character to character building in tension as the charcters listen to lauras tapes.

-They Stop the tape, press play and the scene changes
