the differences in directing style were SO obvious in this one! especially the scene with mrs. palmer in the living room (is she dead?!), with the way the camera scanned across the floor, the record repeating the one part over and over until it becomes almost a non-diegetic sound even though it's coming from within the scene and it warps into an eerie repetitive in-your-head kind of a sound. ALSO, the singing lady at the bar was SO lynch, like the puffy cheeked lady in eraserhead. even the way she was singing in that haunting, dreamy way, and the way she was lit brightly from above. my favorite quote was leo's "new shoes!" he sounded like a parrot! and he had that weird OCD thing of spitting every time before he said it. very odd.
Lynch seems to have shots that are longer. Instead of doing over the shoulder shots her seems to just put both characters in the shot. he also seems to like interesting angles, shots from above or below. And a lot of his camera angles are really close up on the characters faces or other things he wants you to look at closely
You can definitely recognize David Lynch as the director of this episode: There is again the giant telling the agent what happened to another girl and then the horse in the living room. I m not sure why this is about, but the scene with Lauras mother, her father and Maddy is really weird. I didn t expect at all that it is Lauras father or even the guy inside him doing all theses thing. For me it seemed that Laura is killed now twice. Is there another cousin who is showing up? And what happened to her mother. Is she dead or was everything maybe just a dream of her again?
I m really looking forward to see the next episode.
"There goes another one!" This was definately wayy more intense and weirder then the last episode. There were so many awkward parts i cant even count them all. Like the horse in the living room? and Donna singing to James. That was really odd. I enjoyed this episode.
My favorite parts are probably the ones with Nadine acting all insane. She has such a weird character I'm always curious as to what shes going to do next.
This episode was the most intense and most creepy one. There were many times that I had to look down an avoid what's going on. The camera angles and panning were a lot different and beautifully done. The part when when Laura's mother crawled down the stairs scared me. Especially when it was happening in a house full of lights. The effects were crazy and the slow motions of Maddy screaming was totally David Lynch.
This is one of my favorite episodes!!!!!!!!!!!!! the mom climbing around on the floor was so weird! You can so tell Lynch directed this one because it is overall better! Everything was 10x weirder! The ending where Leland kills Maddy was so intense and crazy. I thought that both Leland and the mom would be in on it together, so I was surprised when it just ended up being Leland.
And I thought the SAME thing as Julia -- the girl was so puffy cheeks girl from Eraserhead! The way she sang hypnotically was so similar. It had a weird level of importance too. And by that, I mean Lynch filmed her a lot singing, so it must have meant something. I like that Lynch likes to place importance on things we wouldn't expect because it throws us off and sometimes creeps us out.
